SHOE CARE
CARING FOR LEATHER
The leather in your footwear is expertly processed to result in a meticulously curated, luxury piece of apparel. Some leathers are designed to be more durable, while other finishes are more delicate, and the care guidelines for your shoes will vary.
Before the deep cleaning process starts, give your leather shoes a quick wipe from dust and dirt with a soft brush or polish cloth.
Below are tips on how to take care of your leather (and other material) footwear.

FINISHED LEATHER
- On finished leather, such as patent or waxed, use diluted, mild soap and damp cloth to clean the surface of the shoes.
- If suitable, apply the Collonil Waterstop Colours cream or quality leather conditioner with a polish cloth. This will protect the shoes from stains, nourish it and enhance the colour.
- Finish by using any of the Collonil Waterstop + UV spray for protection against any weather condition.
UN-FINISHED LEATHER
- On unfinished leather, including full and corrected grain, use a soft brush or polish cloth dampened with diluted, gentle soap. Work in circles to clean the shoe.
- Apply the Collonil Waterstop Colours cream or quality leather conditioner with a polish cloth. This will protect the shoes from stains, nourish it and enhance the colour.
- Embrace the unique properties of this leather type, it will showcase the natural markings of the hide and develop a rich patina over time.
SUEDE
- Be pro-active and spray your suede footwear with Collonil Waterstop + UV spray.
- If a mishap does take place, use the Collonil Nubux Box or a soft bristle brush to remove excess debris. If required, you can also use a product like Collonil Shampoo Direct to work on removing more stubborn stains.
- Finish by using any of the Collonil Waterstop + UV spray for protection against any weather condition.

CARING FOR TEXTILE
Waterproofing is your footwear’s best friend! Use Collonil Waterstop + UV spray preemptively to protect your shoes from dirt and stains.
The Collonil Waterstop + UV spray acts as a barrier between your shoes and the harsh environmental factors that could damage the material of your shoes.
If spoilage has occurred, use a soft bristle brush or damp sponge and rub gently. We advise against soaking the shoe as it may impede the integrity of the sole and other componentry.
CARING FOR GORE-TEX
Start by removing the laces and insoles and shake out any sand, gravel or debris from the inside of your shoes.Remove dirt and stains using a soft brush or polish cloth dampened with diluted, gentle soap.
Let your shoes air dry in a well-ventilated area.
Avoid direct heat. Once your shoes are completely dry, spray the outside of the GORE-TEX footwear with a waterproof spray.

CARING FOR POLYURETHANE SOLES
Polyurethane (PU) soles provide you with a light-weight, cushioned wearing experience.
We recommend you wear and enjoy your shoes, not storing them in enclosed places (like a box) for extended periods (9+ months) as this can cause the sole material to dry, become brittle and start breaking down.
Wearing your shoes out will keep the PU malleable, helping ensure their longevity.
CARING FOR ARCOPEDICO'S LYTECH
Lytech is an ultra-light blend of PU and lycra that makes the uppers of Arcopedico footwear flexible, breathable and naturally adapt to the shape of the wearer's foot.Because of their lightweight nature, Arcopedico shoes make the perfect travelling shoe, plus they're machine washable and easily fold and fit into suitcases or bags.
Don't store it enclosed in a dark box - Lytech and the PU soles need air.
Dirty? Lytech is machine washable!

MORE QUICK TIPS
WASHING YOUR MESH SHOES
- Mesh upper styles like Klouds Kross Sport and Kroten Travel Walker Mesh will last you a long time if you take great care of them.
- Wash your mesh footwear by hand with cold water and mild, diluted soap.
- Let them air dry overnight & avoid exposing your shoes to direct heat for drying like a tumble dryer or sunlight
GOT SQUEAKY SHOES?
- Your shoes may be squeaking because of trapped air or moisture. Use candle wax! Rub some on the outside or bottom of your insoles. Remember, less is more, you can add more wax but you can't take it off!
DAY-TO-DAY CARE
- Leather shoes hate moisture! Avoid getting them wet where possible and always allow your shoes to air dry. For extra protection, spray them with Collonil Waterstop + UV spray.
- Do your footwear a favour and keep them away from dust & over exposing them in sunlight as well. Although the sun will reduce any odour, it will also cause your shoes to lose their beautiful colour.
